First, Impressions

You came to me
        in what can only
                be described
as a second glance
        and were gone
                before I had
the chance to
        register what
                I was seeing
I looked again
        but it was no
                use there were
too many distractions
        too many buttons
                to hole in
the whole cacophony
        of weather
                we were under
taking for granted
        the whole point
                of what we came
here to do
        and that’s put
                our eyes as close
together
        without touching
                and call it
touching.
