Try to describe
the past’s heaviness
at some point you live

enough to recognize
all of it belongs there
each day resists

joining the herd
by running headlong
into traffic

the end is slowness
missing a turn
distracted by a song

that used to be playing
on the radio
the quiet of the present

is for remembering
