we will never do
it’s quite obvious
enough misinformation
misinforms enough
to be complicit
in their own reckless demise
so long as they buy
whatever they are selling
it will never be the truth

no matter how it was told
but we can tell it
in a better way
maybe to change the story
or to change ourselves
words are not language
the canvas inside the frame
speech made of body
for the listening
which no one can really hear
takes a part of us
to bring it to life
that part will never come back
it will be transformed
into different
not always for the better
but we can make sure
ourselves are better for it

Then you shut the door
on ridiculous
characters who knew their time
was up—so get out
and let’s get down to business

an abundance of caution
so might we suggest
rather than regret

willful ignorance

maybe catch our breath

to pretending that
we’re in control of all this
when reality
keeps insisting otherwise
