Waking up is strange
unaccustomed to a familiar room
simple to fall back asleep
remembering occurrences
that would not have a place
were it not for this room
and your place within it
at some point before you left
have you returned or is it a dream
for the future to misinterpret
as nostalgia for what never happened
a home is a life not just lived in
the habitual forgotten
replaced by interruption for a time
