    On our walk today
We noticed there is a creek
    Following the path

    Wandering lonely
    The daffodils exploding
    Clouds breaking at last

    Dispersed everywhere
    Everything wanting to be
    A part of the clouds

The stream running on both sides

    Somehow the frustration
    Of the pre post pandemic
    Has usurped the lugubrious
    Hyper anxiety of boredom

    From wondering where on earth
    We could get toilet paper
    To navigating inscrutable websites
For a shot of science in the arm

From realizing a slight pause could
    Reevaluate every human endeavor
    To understanding courts still bypass
The right to avoid AR rifles at King Soopers

    Basically the world still sucks
Why are we so eager to restart it as is

    Again we return
With a sense of deja vu
    We cannot quite place

    To a place we know
    That is far too familiar
    Only the names have

    Changed if you say them
Say them aloud when you are
    Through say them again

    What if it turns out
    Apocalypse is the new
    Normal after all

    Even a burning
Building is right twice a day
    Witness as the line

    Exits from danger
    Hands on one another’s backs
    Leave no one behind

    Don’t stop keep going

    The buds on the trees—
    Fuller upon returning
    Than when we set out

    Vernal equinox—
Found a new path to walk on
    And the way back home

A week later the furniture arrived
Cats wonder why it took so long to move
    They obviously go together well
Perches required to watch for those birdies
    Besides make snuggles more ergonomic

Weather a dreary heaviness that arrives
With attendant latent depression as if
The sky knew your grief anniversaries
And baked a cake the size of the universe
    Forgetting it was totally inedible

    American Style Guide 2021 ad
    Infinitum apparently defer
Judgment whether a hate* crime is
A hate crime as long as

    *The hater is white

    Here in the endless present
    Everything happens at once
The past has been going on so long now
We hardly notice when it’s over
